ATTENTION IN THE FISH POND!
I believe that all of us who attended our annual reunion last year shared a
wonderful time together. There is nothing I would like better than to see us
repeat that gratifying experience again this year. We have the time and the place.
All we need is YOU!
For the third year in a row we have booked rooms at the BEST WESTERN FT. WALTON
BEACHFRONT HOTEL. Beckoning us again is the Tiki Bar on the swimming pool deck
and inside bar--The Swizzle Stick Lounge. The hotel swimming pool awaits our
arrival and old faithful -- the Waffle House--is anxious to serve us breakfast
again. And, for you first-timers, it's only a hop, skip and a jump to
several fine eating places for lunch.
Our hotel rooms feature two queen-size beds, refrigerator, microwave oven,
coffee-maker, ironing board, hair dryer, in-room pay movies and a computer port.
Inland rooms are on special to 174th guys and gals at just $55 per night. Gulf
Front rooms, with private balcony and eye-catching scenery, are only $14 more.
Call early and make your reservations now. All of you who attended last year
know what a great staff the hotel has. Not only are they exceptionally
friendly and courteous but they make you want to just "stand up and holler."
They always make us feel like very special folks.
A fishing trip is being scheduled for Saturday, October 6th. I will be trying
to arrange for a larger boat so more people can go at a lower cost. (See
attached "FACT SHEET.")
This year a golf outing is scheduled for you pros and duffers and everyone in
between. Former 14th CAB commander, "Black Sam" Kalagian, is arranging that
event. (See attached "FACT SHEET.")
Also being arranged is a tour of the Eglin AFB Air Force Armament Museum. Bob
Jones has agreed to shepherd you landlubbers and non-golfers, carpool style,
to Eglin.
Vice President Mel Lutgring has designed a special 174th AHC ASSN commemorative
T-shirt to be given to each person registering for the reunion. Mel also has a
really great surprise "gift" for all of you who come this year. The "gift"
also goes to those who can't attend but use the registration form to pay their
annual dues. Extra t-shirts can also be ordered. Please don't forget to
include shipping costs for mail orders.
Dick Overhamm got a show of hands last year from those interested in purchasing
174th AHC ASSN auto license plates and custom-made holders. These will be made
in time for the reunion if we get enough advance orders. (See attached "FACT
SHEET.")
Now that you've decided you want to attend this year's reunion, here's how:
Call 1--877-243-9444 toll-free for room reservations and ask for Peggy Mahone.
Tell Peggy you are with the 174th reunion to get discounted rates. You can
also FAX (850) 243-5445. Include your name, dates of stay, room type, smoking
preference, and payment method. E-mail is: bw-beach@nuc.net. You will need
to give your credit card number. Be sure to also tell Peggy if you want to go
fishing. Make your reservations no later than September 5th to be assured of
a room.
A bar-b-que buffet is planned for Friday evening at the hotel. The cost of that
meal is included in your registration fee. A seafood buffet dinner will be
catered Saturday evening, also at the hotel. The cost is $17.00 per person,
payable with your advance registration. Please note that the registration fee
and seafood buffet cost is the same as last year. The T-shirts are slightly
higher because of the special colored design.
Be sure to complete the attached Registration Form and return it, with your
check made payable to "174th AHC ASSN.," no later than September 15, 2001.
Meeting this deadline is especially important this year. Please return your
form and check to:
