Paul Kunelius:
Ready to Rock-n-Roll

Paul said, "this is late 1966. This is my action shot in Shark 429. Unfortunately we were on the ground (just before a CA), but I was ready! I believe Jack Hester (crewchief) was wounded in Sept '66 in this gunship."

When questioned about the sheen on the fuselage, Paul said, "Instead of waxing the fuselage, we cheated... used motor oil!" About the apparent wooden cabin support. Paul said, "that's not actually a support. The AC (aircraft commander) made us install that to keep us from swinging around with the M60 machine gun and accidentally shooting the pilots. A month earlier one of us shot a pilot through the foot and floor!"
