2002 Reunion
FACT SHEET

FISHING

A deep-sea fishing trip is tentatively planned for Saturday, October 12. Costs could range from $25 or $30 for a party boat, up to $80 each for six people (five hours) on a small charter boat. When the total number of people desiring to go fishing is determined, an attempt will be made to charter a fishing boat to accommodate that number of people. Wally Nunn or Bernie Cobb will then contact you personally and inform you of the estimated cost per person. Payment must be made on arrival at the dock.

GOLFING

Carl Muthersbaugh will be filling in this year as golfing project director for the late "Black Sam" Kalagian. Carl will arrange for another golf outing at our reunion on October 12th. As of now, details have not been firmed up. Costs could range from about $25 to $35 per person, depending on what course will be played.

It is expected that there will be room for 16 players (four 4-somes). Spikeless golf shoes or tennis shoes may be prescribed. Bring your clubs or rent clubs at the golf course. Carl will provide our registered golfers with more details at the hotel Friday evening. Payment must be made at the golf course pro shop before teeing off.

And, listen up, guys…..the ladies are especially invited to join in the golfing fun this year. This was the final word from our departed friend and former 14th CAB commander, Sam Kalagian. This is Sam's legacy to our reunion golfing fun.

ZOO TOUR

An auto trip to the zoo near Navarre, FL, is also on the agenda for Saturday to accommodate those not interested in fishing or golfing. Those wishing to go to the zoo can "car pool" the 30-minute drive from the hotel. Bob Jones has agreed to organize the group and determine "the rules of engagement." Cost is $10 per adult ($9 Seniors). Group rates may apply if there are enough of us. The zoo features a nice gift shop. "Old Baldy" will get you there, help you enjoy seeing over 700 really "cool" animals, and get you back safely.

BAY CRUISE

Another choice on Saturday for the non-golfer/non-fisherperson is a 2-hour bay cruise. Various boats are available but the average cost is $15 per person ($12 for Seniors). Snacks or, in some cases, even a luncheon may be available on board, depending on which boat is booked. Whichever boat we use will leave from the docks at nearby Destin, only a few minutes away from the hotel. Again, car pool is the best way to go. That can be arranged Friday evening following the annual business meeting.

COMMERATIVE 174th LICENSE PLATE

Last year, many of you purchased one or more of the 174th commemorative auto license plate/holder sets that Dick Overhamm had manufactured, based on interest shown at the previous reunion. Supply and demand zeroed out just as the last license plate was sold. But, Dick has arranged to have more made if there is enough interest again this year.

He is doing this as a personal project. So, if you would like to purchase a license plate/holder set, or just a holder which can be used for a state tag, you should contact Dick directly via mail, telephone or e-mail. The price is still $15 for a set. You can pick up your order at the reunion, or Dick can mail your order to you at $4 for one set or $6 for two. On request, Dick can also arrange to get you only the holder. To place your order, contact:

Dick Overhamm, 5120 W. Carol Ave., Glendale, AZ 85302-3417, Tel: (623) 931-0133, or E-mail: shark6AZ@earthlink.net

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

Again, you are urged to make your hotel reservation as soon as possible, but not later than September 13th. Please advise Peggy Mahone of any special requests, such as bedding, smoking preference, connecting or adjoining rooms, etc. The hotel features a great staff which always makes our stay pleasurable. The room rates stated in the cover letter are single/double occupancy. Additional charges will apply for rollaways and additional persons in the room. Baby cribs are no additional charge. Children under 12 stay free.

INACTIVE MAILING LIST

We have over 900 names of former 174th AHC personnel in our database. Many do not respond to the annual reunion notices. If you do not wish to continue receiving our mail, please send the Secretary/Treasurer a notice. Your name will be placed in an inactive file.
